Emceed by community advocate Natasha Felkins:
Revive the Runway: Flora & Fauna, An Upcycled Fashion Love Letter to California — celebrating creativity, sustainability, and the wild beauty that surrounds us.
Now in its third annual year, Revive the Runway brings together 30+ local designers, ages 8 and up, for an unforgettable evening of fashion with purpose. Each designer reimagines discarded, secondhand, or unexpected materials into wearable art inspired by California’s plants and animals.
This year’s show is proudly co-hosted by The Studio Bakersfield — a creative space offering sewing classes and workshops for all ages — and In Your Wildest Dreams Consignment & Antiques, a local business rooted in reuse, storytelling, and timeless style. Together, these two organizations champion sustainability, creativity, and community connection.
The runway features two distinct sections:
Junior Showcase (Ages 8–13):
Our youngest designers will showcase at least one upcycled piece, highlighting imagination, confidence, and emerging creative talent. This portion of the show is non-competitive and celebratory.Adult Competition (Ages 14+):
Designers compete across Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert levels, presenting original upcycled garments judged on creativity, craftsmanship, innovation, and interpretation of the Flora & Fauna theme.
Designs will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges from the fashion, art, and creative community:
Cassandra Gear, Owner of Those Things By That One Girl
Chevonne Bowers Frank, partner in Chevy’s Vintage, vintage fashion resellers
Caitlin Snyder, sewist and advocate of slow and secondhand fashion
Victor Lorenzo Gonzales, Curator of Collections & Exhibitions at The Bakersfield Museum of Art
Beyond the runway, Revive the Runway serves a greater mission. This event benefits the local nonprofit Dreams Reimagined Inc, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives through clothing and essential home donations.
Revive the Runway is more than a fashion show — it’s a celebration of renewal, resilience, and creative expression. Join us as we revive materials, reimagine fashion, and honor California through community-driven design.
